The Task

North Ayrshire Swimming strive to provide very best training and competition opportunities for swimmers from age 7 through to national Scottish and British championship level. They draw their membership from beyond the boundaries of North Ayrshire and have a built a reputation over many years as a club which has started swimmers on their journeys to the Olympics and Commonwealth Games.

North Ayrshire Swimming Club promotes and manages the teaching, knowledge and practice of swimming in North Ayrshire district. The club needed a fresh new design and contacted our Glasgow design agency.

The club got in touch with Mucky Puddle looking to refresh their brand and website as part of their development plan, and our design team jumped at the opportunity to help them realise their vision.

I competed with the club when it was still known as Cunninghame ASC, and I continued competitive swimming while I was studying at the University of Strathclyde. Being involved in creating the new North Ayrshire Swimming brand feels like coming full-circle.

Brand Identity

There were many elements to consider as part of the refresh such as making the logo flexible enough for the plethora of applications, from the website to swimming caps, medals and banners, kit bags to printed programmes to name a few. We carefully crafted the brand to create an immediate impact, making the club stand out from the competition while leaving a long-lasting impression on the members.

From numerous design concepts, the management team at the North Ayrshire Swimming selected the futuristic and fluid monogram mark. The logo conveys a sense of energy and movement that was fitting for its vibrant swimming club.

The new branding is amazing; it's going to give the whole club a new lease of life. It's clean, it's modern, and it's eye-catching. When I saw the kids in the caps for the first time at the photoshoot I thought 'yeah, this is it'! It's exactly what I wanted - it's very identifiable. I want other clubs to see it and immediately know we're North Ayrshire.
